You love pottering about in your kitchen.

And now, you have one more reason — the very item you need for cooking can be used to fluff up home remedies to combat common ailments like constipation, cold, cough, sore throat and more.

These simple home remedies plug the chemicals naturally present in herbs, fruits, vegetables, spices, etc, to tackle the infection and ache in your body.

Reason for uses of home remedies?

They are less expensive than other forms of medicine available in the markets.

They do not cause any side effects or reactions.

The following remedies can be useful to relieve common discomforts and life’s general health problems…

Sore throat

This could be accompanied cough due to an infection of the lungs, because of the secretion of mucous. Some home remedies that can be used are:

01 Boil water with a little piece of ginger, 1 tsp honey and, a dash of cinnamon, and drink it.

02 Heat up water with2 tsp of honey +2 tsp of lemon juice and take.

03 Heat up one glass of water; add gargle and a tsp of salt. Be careful not to sip the water as it may make you feel like throwing up.

04Take ½ tsp honey and a pinch of turmeric 1 tsp fresh ginger juice. take this mixture at least three times a day.

05 Heat half glass milk; add sugar and less than ¼ tsp of turmeric. Drink while warm.

06When there is mucus in the cough. Pour one cup of boiling water over a piece of ginger, and ½ tsp cinnamon and ½ tsp ground cloves. Filter it, sweeten with honey and have it sip by sip.

07boil a glass of water add ½ a raw onion, 4-5 mint leaves, 2-3 black peppercorns, 2 cloves, and a small stick of cinnamon too. Strain and sip while it is still warm. You could add 1 tsp of honey, to reduce the spicy taste.

08If you have excess mucous secretion, don’t take milk and milk products for one month.

Normal cold

i. Blow your nose often, rather than sniffing back the mucous.

ii. Put 2-3 drops of salt water in your nose in the morning and before going to bed. Salt keeps the nasal passage moist; the saline solution also helps thin the mucous so you can get rid of it at regular intervals.

iii. Make hot chicken soup with lots of garlic. It will help unclog your nasal passage. Have when hot.

iv. Take frequently liquids like soups, tea, etc daily. This will replace important fluids lost during the cold and help flush out impurities.

v. During your cold. Soak your feet in warm water, it will help relieve any headaches or nasal congestion.

vi. Warm ¼ bowl mustard oil add 4-5 cloves of chopped garlic. Apply this on your nose, chest and back just as you apply Vicks. Cover up and sleep.

vii. Inhale the steam of Boil half a bowl of water having few drops of eucalyptus oil and.

Acidity

i. Chew 10 to 12 pudina leaves early in the morning on an empty stomach for one month. Also having raw onions along with your meals will keep acidity at bay.

ii. Before each meal drink a glass of lemon juice, it will help relieve acidity.

iii. Avoid fried and fermented food and too much tea, coffee, as they stimulate acid production.

iv. Add a pinch of baking soda in a glass of water shake it and drink it at one go. It gives immediate relief.

v. Every morning Take a glass of warm water, add a pinch of hing (asafoetida) and have it.

vi. Swallow coconut water 3-4 times in a day.

vii. Eat a serving of cucumber or watermelon 4-5 times in a day.

viii. To get relief from acidity and gas. Chew 6-8 basil (tulsi ) leaves daily.

ix. Take a glass of kokum sherbet with little jeera (cumin seeds) it helps relieve acidity.

CONSTIPATION

Drink too much water, upto 5 litres a day
Eat lots of fiber rich foods like fruits, vegetables and good carbs like brown rice, oatmeal
Take a sleep of at least 7 hrs everyday
Avoid tea coffee
Eat every 3-4 hrs
Don’t smoke
Avoid red meat

Drink one glass of hot milk before sleeping with a banana
For sever constipation drink castor oil (kardi ka tel) 2 times in a day
Drink hot water as first thing in the morning
Triphala Churna is a common Ayurvedic medicine for constipation. It is a powder made by grinding three kinds of herbs. A teaspoon of this powder taken with warm water or milk at the time going to bed is useful.
Drink orange juice and Eat papaya daily
Mix one tsp of corn syrup with one glass of water and take it twice a day
Drink milk and honey twice a day
Drink milk with kismis (raisins) twice a day
Bran cereal is great for infants.
Peru (guava) is a good heal for constipation.
